Jasur Madjidov (right) of Uzbekistan declared as the champion of the Sarawak Open 2011 on tie-breaker with 6.5 points out of possible 8 and cash home the RM2500 first prize, beating Foo Chee Kin and Morsin Ahmad of Malaysia who takes 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Kueh Yan Chew, Japeri Reduan, Shamsudin Mat Isa and Henry Manchin settled out 4th - 7th place with 6 points, while Mohd Nassir Hussain, CM Amier Hamzah and Lim Kian Hwa settled out the 8th to 10th place.
2nd seeded Abang Mohd Reduan who fights for the top ten placing in the first 6 rounds failed to make it to the top 10 after losing his last two games to Morsin Ahmad and Foo Chee Kin.
The tournament which concluded today attracts 54 local chess players with each player from Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Singapore and Uzbekistan completing the list.
