I recently got the prizes for Chess Allegro tournament 2009 updated from the SCA Secretary.

SABERKAS Rapid Chess Open 2009

4 Sabahan players again attacking Limbang rapid chess tournament organised by SABERKAS, and we won, but lost it later.



The participants is nearly 80% school boys, and Brunei players can't participate because they also having a Chess League in Berakas. I won on tie-break ahead of Abdul Sahim, who recently won 25th National Day Rapid in Brunei.



How do you gonna beat the boy on the board. Merely after 3 moves, the rook attacks you!



Our friend, Amran creates upset by beating Md. Japar Timbang. He leads until the 8th round before losing to Haji Ali.

I got 1st. Sahim 2nd, Amran 3rd and Wahab 4th. (Wahab washes us in the hotel blitz but nobodys perfect hehehe) Jangan marah aa. Banar ba.

Flood at Trusan. The ferry only operates as usual at 2.00pm Sunday 15th March, after 3 hours waiting the water level dropped.




3 hours waiting?? Hmm..


After having lunch at Sipitang, we stuck again in Beaufort due to flood. I said we lost it later because, only after 2 days, the flood water level is back to OK level. Fuel cost + food + accomodation = more than the money we win in Limbang. hahahahah... anyway, nice experience..

63 players took part. Abdul Sahim emerged as the champion after drawing with Danny Limosinero in the last round. He scored 6 wins and 3 draws. Congratulations!
